I AM AN ELECTRONICS GENIARSE!
About half an hour before going home to fry my new Arduino by attempting to drive a 12V LED strip directly from its output ports, I realised I’d have to use transistors hanging off the outputs to switch the 12V.
I then spent a few hours being totally confused by the myriad variety of transistors out there. Resigning myself to toasting a few bucks worth of components before I worked out what I was doing, I went back to Sim Lim Tower today and bought some bits and pieces that as best I could work out were approximately right and then set about attempting to make something happen. Which, inside half an hour tonight, I managed to do! Yay me!
Stay tuned for more tales of daring and microprocessor-controlled flashy things…
